Peace & Love

Art Contest 2020

”If we cannot now end our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity.“-JFK

Years from now, 2020 will be remembered and studied as an unprecedented time in
human history. Never before had a virus so forcefully halted daily lives, devastated the
global economy, and most tragically, stole the very life out of many, tearing them away
from their friends and family, as COVID-19 has.

To this day, we are still combating this pandemic, and we continue to see its lingering
effects around every turn of the city corners. At the same time, the resurgence of the
international racial equality movement has mobilized millions of people, both in-person and on social media, and added fuel to an age-long struggle against racism in each and every one of our communities. Amidst the chaos and motion, how are our future generations impacted by the actions of today?

We hope for our children and youth to represent what the current COVID-19 and the
racial equality movement means to them in their artwork. They don’t have to be
restrained to a specific event, time or place; instead, we encourage our participants to
think outside of the box and come up with creative ideas and symbolism to display their acknowledgement and perhaps participation in these recent events.

We wish that through the process of creating the artwork, the artist may be able to
reflect on the deeper meanings behind their efforts and deliver to the world a piece that can serve as a warning call, an inspiration, a reflection, or any other strong emotion that may have surfaced to our young artist’s heart.

Through the masterpieces of our youngsters, we hope to bring hope, healing, and
encouragement to anyone and everyone who is struggling through the dark times at this very moment.
